Heralding the moths of November

November is the beginning of the Bogong Moth migration to the cool caves of the Australian Alps, where they rest out the hot summer months before flying back to the plains west of the Great Dividing Range.

My little moth lingered on our kitchen wall last night, casting an exceptional shadow. The shadow moth seemed to be flying - perhaps the moth was dreaming of flying adventures.

I was always intrigued by these gold and black moths as a child, their bumble bee bodies and stained glass window wings.

Ahh, I do love moths. Now that I am getting better with the closeup, I'll be looking for more moth photo ops this month ...
